The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II has definitely moved on from the series of heartbreaks that characterized his failed marriages since he became a king. The Osun royal father is set to take another wife. It was gathered that the next Olori in waiting, Mariam Anako is from Kogi State though she grew up in Kwara State. She is a top shot at Nest Oil and a sister to the Yeye Oge of Ibogun Olaoparun Kingdom, Dr Railiat Anako Abdulsalam, a politician cum Oil and Gas mogul. Abdulsalam is an ally to two of Ooni of Ife’s sisters, Folashade Ogunwusi Fadairo and Shola Ogunwusi.

It was alleged that an introduction ceremony has taken place and it remains for the beautiful lady to be ushered in officially to the royal palace. Preparation is said to be in top gear as the queen’s quarter has been renovated in readiness for her arrival which is said to be very soon. This development is coming few months after the last Olori, Queen Naomi Silekunola quit her marriage and moved out of the palace.

His Royal Majesty, Oba Ogunwusi has not been lucky when it comes to matters of the heart, most especially romantic affairs but he has never been an alien to separation and divorce. He has been married three times and all his three wives left him under circumstances not befitting a royal father. They all moved out of his life and home on their own accord without being sent packing. While still a vibrant young man, Ogunwusi had an affair with a lady, Omolara Olatubosun. The relationship led to the birth of his first daughter, Adeola Aanuoluwapo Ogunwusi but he did not marry her.

His first wife, Adebukola Bombota, got married to him in 2008 but the marriage did not stand the test of time. They both went their separate ways not long after, though reasons were not stated for their separation. After his first divorce, he didn’t make an attempt at marriage again until he became the Ooni in 2015. In 2016, he married Wuraola Zaynab Otiti, a Benin lady but barely two years after, the marriage crashed. Infidelity and infertility on the part of the queen were cited as the reason for the collapse of the union. Though Zaynab later denied the allegations, she didn’t state the reason she walked out of her union.

\Later, the king’s sisters were also rumoured to have contributed to the breakdown of the marriage with their overbearing and nosey attitude as they tried to relegate her in her matrimonial home. The king also contributed to his own marital woes, he abandoned his wife while paying attention to the series of concubines in his palace. Zaynab did not bore a child for the king before their marriage collapsed. Barely a year after Zaynab left the palace, the king fell in love with another beautiful lady, Prophetess Naomi Silekunola.

The preacher of the gospel married the king in 2018.  After they got married, many thought that would be the king’s last attempt at marriage but unfortunately, the marriage also crashed in December 2021. It crashed due to an irrational attitude from the queen’s mother and brother who were over demanding and abusing the fact that they are in-laws to the king. Her mother had an overbearing and unruly attitude towards palace staff and she constantly demanded money from the king. The queen’s elder brother, Gbenro misappropriated funds given to him by the king to execute some project. Even when the matter was reported to the queen, she took sides with her family and fought with her husband.

On his part, the king was said to have given less attention to his queen but prefers the company of his numerous mistresses in the palace. Naomi quit her marriage after having a son, Tadenikawo for the king. After the collapse of the third union, one would think the king would pick the next Olori from his harem to occupy the vacant position. Ronke Ademiluyi, the founder of African Fashion week London and Nigeria name’s easily comes to mind as a perfect replacement. She has been close to Ogunwusi long before he became the king.

And there is Tope Adesegun, the convener of Hope Alive Initiative, she was rumoured to be the replacement of the first estranged Olori Wuraola who packed out of the palace many years ago. Afolashade Ashley, the founder of Ashley Adegoke foundation is another lady that has warmed the bed of his Royal Majesty’s bed before. She paraded herself as the first woman in the life of the Ooni, she has been in the life of the traditional ruler long before Olori Wuraola got married to her. Though Adegoke is a single mother of one which makes her   disqualified for the position as tradition forbids the king from marrying a woman who has had a child for another man.
