The Lagos Polo Club has imposed an indefinite entry ban on real estate magnate, Sir Olu Okeowo, chairman of Gibraltar Group, following an alleged assault on a staff member by one of his security aides during a high-profile event at the club’s Ikoyi grounds.
The club’s secretary, Adeyemi Oreagba in a statement he personally signed said the incident occurred on Saturday, October 18, during the Reminisce Event hosted at the club.
One of Okeowo’s security personnel violently assaulted a staff member while he was performing his duty, an action that negates one of the club’s main ground rules on decorum and member conduct.
Accordingly, Okeowo got banned from entering the club premises, either as a guest or otherwise, until further notice.
One of the club’s rules reads, “Members are fully responsible for the actions of their guests, security personnel, and domestic staff within the club premises.”
The club places emphasis on the welfare and dignity of staff. It remains a top priority. The club maintains zero tolerance for any form of assault by members or guests.
