The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has announced the arrest of some BUA workers, who allegedly violated the law on movement restriction in the state, adding that the BUA workers had been arraigned and remanded, ThePunch is reporting.

Meanwhile, truck drivers working with BUA have appealed to the Rivers State Government to release their colleagues. The drivers said that nine of their colleagues, including motor boys, were arrested on Sunday by policemen on the orders of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

Wike had on Saturday announced a total lockdown of parts of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area from 6am on Sunday, April 19, 2020.

One of the drivers, who identified himself as Ismail, said that their colleagues were taken away by the police between 4 pm and 5 pm on Sunday. He said, “Nine of our colleagues were arrested on Sunday. One of those arrested called to tell us that the government was taking them to court. We are begging the governor to have mercy on us.”
