Abba Kyari, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff is dead. Kyari who tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic that has killed thousands of people globally, had been receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Lagos before finally giving up the ghost on Friday April 17th 2020.

Confirming his death are both the Senior Special Adviser to the president and the president’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina and Abba Kyari respectively.

The two presidential spokes persons added that that his funeral arrangements will be made public shortly even though as a staunch Muslim, he should be buried within hours of his death.

Abba Kyari who tested positive to the virus on March 24th, almost two weeks after he arrived from a trip to Germany where he had gone to close a deal for an expansion programme for Nigeria’s electricity with Seimens, made the confirmation himself of testing positive to the virus and went into self-isolation.

Six days after he went on self-isolation Kyari issued a statement on his health, saying he would be back at his desk soon.
