That Chanel Metiers d’Art show was an elegant tribute to Parisian grandeur would be stating the obvious. The fashion house was celebrating its 13th Metiers d’Art show, a runway show that takes place outside the traditional fashion schedule, at different locations in other to pay tribute to the workshops that provide the house with everything from lace to silver buttons and fine embroidery work. Last year, it was in Rome and the fashion house, through its famous creative designer, Karl Lagerfield,  thought it apt to pay homage to Paris which was just recovering from one of its deadliest co ordinated terrorist attacks, with a black and white reconstruction of the city at the Cinecitta film studios in Rome, reputed to be where Elizabeth Taylor and her ex-husband, Richard Burton fought and made-up on the set of Cleopatra. With coral flowers in models’ hair and bitsy crop tops, tweeds, sequins, pearls etc, this year’s runway show was opened by model,  Cara Delevingne, Karl Lagerfeld’s long-standing muse. Besides, Cara, other celebrities who walked the runway were musician, Pharell Williams, actress Lily Rose-Depp and Louise Parker. Pharell and Chanel had at some point hinted at a collaboration. Perhaps this explains why he was at the show. Model and reality star, Kendall Jenner, a favourite of the fashion house  and one who has  walked in past Chanel shows was visibly absent, perhaps due to the demands of the Victoria Secret show which she had to prepare for.
