If you’ve grown disenchanted with the fancy dinners, chocolates, and roses, worry no more because we’ve rounded up a series of unique Valentine’s day ideas to combat the day’s predictability. After all, what’s romance without a little mystery, surprise and adventure? Here’s how to put some fresh energy into the day

Visit a resort, discover nature
Escape the hustle and bustle of city life and take advantage of what resorts have to offer. Besides lodging, resorts often boasts of many activities and attractions like wellness spa and beauty facilities, healthy cuisine, natural ecology and tranquility as well as physical fitness activities such as a golf course, water sports. The Obudu cattle ranch or the Inagbe grand resort are perfect examples. Or if you can afford it, the sky isn’t really the limit. Going for sightseeing across your city of choice, using a helicopter, is one unique way to spend the day. A luxury no doubt but its effect will linger in your memory for a long time.

Throw a singles party
Are you without a significant other to share the day with? Do not despair, instead turn yourself pitying to gain by throwing a grand feel-good singles party. Invite all of your single friends and acquaintances to celebrate empowerment, romance and gratitude. You never can tell, the party which is a sure way to encourage mingling could turn out to be the place where many relationships will be born.

Volunteer to help those needing some love
Since Valentine’s day is a celebration of love, consider branching out from romance into charity. Send flowers to hospitals, volunteer your services with any organized service group or domestic violence shelters, bake, cook or buy things to donate to an orphanage, old people’s home etc of your choice. Just strive to make a difference in someone’s life who isn’t used to getting loved, on that day.

Surprise your spouse with a private musical performance
If you and your partner both relate to music or your partner loves music, then a musical performance won’t be a bad idea. Select an unusual, private, quiet location; perhaps where you first kicked off your relationship, hire an artiste to perform your partner’s favorite song.

Celebrate on a different day
Since the streets would be crowded and restaurants and leisure spots, crowded today, why not chose to postpone your date night to February 15th or any other day of your choice and spend the day itself indoors, relaxing with a takeout and a couple of romantic movies.

Have a group date at someone’s house.
Gather at some couples for a stay-at-home group date and split the duties. The men can buy flowers, cook and serve the women dinner, while the women plan games, provide gifts or whatever else catches their fancy. If you plan to invite singles, be sure to invite an even number of single men and women so no one ends up feeling like a third wheel.
