Kemi Adetiba isn’t returning as the director for the sequel of “The Wedding Party” as Niyi Akinmolayan has been revealed as the director of the upcoming sequel.  No reason was given for why she isn’t the one directing it. Niyi is no stranger to making good movies as he is known for his professionalism in ‘Out of Luck,’ ‘The Arbitration,’ ‘Room 315,’ and ‘Falling.’

The sequel which commenced shooting on May 1st, 2017, sees Nonso (Enyinna Nwigwe), continuing his romance with Deirdre (Daniella Down), the bridesmaid from London. Nonso manages to propose to her by accident, while on a dinner date, and sets off a chain of events too powerful to stop.

Deirdre’s upper-crust British family is against the match, as are some members of the Nigerian clan, but Deirdre’s determination can’t be contained. After a near-disastrous introduction ceremony in Lagos and Nigerian opposition to a London wedding, both families reluctantly agree to a wedding in Dubai, setting us off on another colourful, chaotic and memorable journey to everlasting love.

A collaboration between EbonyLife Films, FilmOne Distribution, Koga Studios and Inkblot Productions, the first film grossed over 40 million naira at the box office.
