Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of three new permanent secretaries in the state public service.
Two of the appointees are youthful Abdul-Rasheed Abiola Muri-Okunola, the younger brother of Hakeem Muri-Okunola, the immediate past head of service, Lagos State, now principal secretary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Rasheed was elevated to Director, Administration & Human Resources and General Manager, Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA).
Rasheed, was former governor Babatunde Fashola’s personal assistant for many years and as a result of his older brother’s influence, always get plum postings.
Like his older brother, Rasheed also lives a jet-set lifestyle. Always clothed in designer wear, he drives exotic automobiles and lives in posh apartments.
The other is Prince Fatiu Adegbola Akiolu the son of Oba Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos. He was appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA).
With the two individuals from prominent families, there is no gainsaying the fact that both Muri-Okunola and Akiolu will both do everything within their powers to be elevated to the position of head of service in Lagos State civil service.
However, sources disclose that like his brother, Rasheed is being groomed to occupy the position his brother once held. Would Akiolu fold his hands and let that happen? Time will tell.
Sanwo-Olu also re-appointed the daughter of late All Progressives Congress Women’s Leader, Southwest, Late Kemi Nelson, Mrs Adetoun Popoola as the General Manager, Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK). Her re appointment was backdated to 18th of September, 2023.
