After starring in popular TV soap, ‘Checkmate’ as well as some block buster movies in the late 90s,  Ego Boyo simply disappeared from the screens preferring instead to work from behind the screen as a movie producer. However her name still rang bells each time it is mentioned. The mother of three has now emerged fully from her cocoon as she was recently installed as 60th President of the International Women’s Society, an independent, non-political, non-governmental and non-profit organization which was founded in 1957. Being a member of the body is a call to service to young women and to embrace charitable services whilst pursuing one’s careers. At the investiture and conferment ceremony which was compered by Jasmine Tukur and Ifeoma Williams, the newly elected president talked about the importance of women, children and youth affairs.
“This year, our focus is strengthening existing partnerships with individuals or organizations that have a focus on women, children and youth affairs, as well as building new alliances. Therefore, we are planning to open our event calendar to allow for more meaningful collaborations.”
The ceremony was graced by the crème de la crème of society
