A Bayelsa High Court, presided over by Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro, has awarded N500 million in damages to former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke in a defamation suit against the producers and director of the documentary Is It Your Money.

Alison-Madueke filed the suit against media personality, Chude Jideonwo, Judith Audu, Eromo Egbejule, YNIIJA Limited, and Capital Film Productions Limited, seeking N5 billion in damages for libelous content in the documentary.

She also requested a court order compelling the defendants to retract the defamatory statements and issue an unreserved apology, to be published in three national newspapers in Nigeria as well as prominent daily newspapers in the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US).

Additionally, Alison-Madueke sought a perpetual injunction preventing the defendants and their associates from publishing or airing any part of the documentary in the future.
