The highly publicised anti-xenophobia concert which Burna Boy was billed to headline in South Africa, Africa Unite has been cancelled, due to threats of violence.

The concert organizers, Phambili Media and Play Network, have both confirmed that after engagement with Burna Boy’s management a decision to withdraw his name from the line-up was reached and as a result, both legs of the concert that were scheduled for Hillcrest Quarry, Cape Town, on November 23 and Sun Arena, Pretoria, November 24 were cancelled.

This latest development is coming just as the the singer got nominated for the 62nd Grammys in the Best World Music Album category.

Yemi Alade’s “Woman of Steel” and Burna Boy’s “African Giant” were the Nigerian albums in the fight to get the Grammy nomination for “Best World Album” but Burna edged her out.

The Grammy Awards will be held on Monday 27th January 2020.
