A former minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Abubakar, has defeated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent governor, Mohammed Abubakar to be declared winner of the Bauchi State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Musa Dahiru, the collation officer of Tafawa Balewa, the pending result, said Mohammed polled 39,225 votes ahead of Abubakar who garnered 30,055 votes. Results of the election of March 9 were also added.
