The Women at Risk International Foundation , WARIF has been selected as one of 23 organizations and is a proud recipient of the 2017 grant scheme from the Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) Foundation. The ACT Foundation is a grant making non-profit organization established to support local, national and regional non-profits working to address challenges and associated vulnerabilities in the African continent.

Recipients of this grant scheme were selected from organizations that are making great contributions in areas of health, entrepreneurship, environment and leadership.  Dr. Kemi Da-Silva Ibru, the founder of WARIF stated, “We are very excited at the prospect of partnering with the ACT Foundation on the WARIF Gate Keepers Initiative. With the training of the Traditional Birth Attendants in their communities; this initiative will have a tremendous and sustainable impact on the issue of Sexual and Gender Based Violence across the country.”

Women At Risk International Foundation WARIF is a non-governmental organization that was established in response to the high incidence of sexual assault, rape and human trafficking occurring among young girls and women across Nigeria. With the assistance of the grant from ACT Foundation; The WARIF’s new Gate Keeper’s Initiative will focus on the role and activities of Traditional Birth Attendants in addressing Gender Based Violence among expectant mothers and vulnerable women in communities across Lagos State.
