Reacting to the news that signatures of 52.3 percent of the electorates from his constituency and other petitions, have been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja yesterday, asking that he be recalled, Senator Dino Melaye has lashed out, saying that not only is it a comedy of errors and a hoax, that it cannot succeed.

In a facebook post, the Senator representing Kogi West said,
“It cannot succeed. It is a hoax and absolute comedy of errors. I’m laughing at the stupidity of Kogi state government. Many appointees will go to jail for forgery. Even dead people’s names on the recall register. A governor who does not know what double registration is may not as well know the procedure for recall. Every lie has an expiry date. This comedy of errors will soon end. No shaking at all. This won’t solve the problem of not paying salaries for over 15 months. No retreat no surrender. Truth is my only Defence.”

The commission is still expected to verify the names on the register along with the recall signatories because the number of signatories and that of actual voters differ. While 188, 588 people signed the petition for his recall, only 111,534 actually voted in the elections. The collation of signatures of voters was successfully carried out on June 17.
