Justice Maurice Ahemba Ikpambese, a High Court judge and former contender for the Tor Tiv stool earlier today divorced his wife, Hon. Mrs. Helen, former Kwande council caretaker chairman at a Upper Area Court 2 in Gboko, Benue State.
There was high jubilation among the audience in the court that was filled to capacity with people from Kwande and associates. Shortly after the divorce pronouncement was announced by the presiding judge, the locals who broke into joy shouted a song in Tiv saying ‘Ormee Ayem Tar Na Chaje’. The court session was held in the judges chamber for security reasons.
By this divorce, Hon. Mrs. Helen ceases to be the wife of the High Court judge and by extension, a Kwande woman except if she marries another Kwande man again.
Reason for the divorce is unknown.
