Terrorists have abducted 11 residents, including a pregnant woman in a fresh attack on Isapa, a community near Eruku in Ekiti Local Government Area (LGA) of Kwara state, on Monday evening.
The attack occurred around 6:00 p.m., with an estimated 20 to 30 armed men firing sporadically as they advanced, forcing residents to flee for safety.
An elderly woman was reportedly struck by a stray bullet during the attack.
A community leader said seven of the kidnapped individuals are from the same household.
The abductees include a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, several children, and other adults.
They have been identified as Talatu Kabiru (20); Magaji (6); Kande (5); Hadiza (10); Mariam (6); Saima (5); Habibat (housewife); Fatima Yusufu (housewife); Sarah Sunday (22, pregnant); Lami Fidelis (23, nursing mother); and Haja Na Allah (nursing mother).
Eyewitnesses reported that the terrorists moved through the town, leaving bullet holes in walls and doors.
Expended AK-47 shells were recovered at multiple points after the attackers retreated with their captives.
Security agencies and local vigilante groups have increased efforts to track down the kidnappers and secure the release of the victims.
Kwara state commissioner of police, Adekimi Ojo, confirmed the attack, saying he will provide updates about the incident later.
