Renowned Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai evangelistic association, Rev. Uma Ukpai, has reportedly passed away at the age of 80.

His death was confirmed on Monday, through a statement released on his official instagram handle

According to the family, the revered preacher passed away on October 6, 2025, after more than six decades of ministry dedicated to evangelism, teaching, and humanitarian service.

“With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who passed on to glory on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80. A faithful soldier of the cross has been called to rest.

“Dedicating over six decades of his life to fiery evangelism, dynamic teaching of the Word and prophetic demonstrations of the power of God, he impacted millions of lives and transformed destinies within Nigeria and across the globe,” the statement read.

Born on January 7, 1945, in Asaga, Ohafia, Abia state, Rev. Ukpai was a renowned evangelist, author, and founder of several humanitarian initiatives, including the Uma Ukpai eye centre and the Uma Ukpai scholarship foundation.

Ukpai marked his 80th birthday earlier this year, an event that drew tributes from church leaders and political figures across the country.

The family said funeral arrangements would be announced at a later date, adding that while they mourn his passing, they celebrate his triumphant homegoing.
