Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, a leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, has announced his resignation from the party, citing loss of confidence in its national leadership and alleged compromise of the governorship primary process.
Fayose, a younger brother of former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose, said he and his supporters could no longer remain in the PDP, which he accused of being hijacked by forces working against its survival. He accused the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Iliya Damagum, and the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, of deliberately undermining the party.
Barely 24 hours after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Fayose met with Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). During the consultation visit, Aregbesola was said to have encouraged him to “join” ADC without further delay, assuring that the party remains open to strong grassroots leaders.
