Senator Iyiola Omiore, a former Osun State deputy governor and the immediate past National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has begun mobilisation for his gubernatorial ambition ahead of the August 8 governorship poll in the state.

This isn’t Omisore’s first rodeo in the gubernatorial race of Osun State as he had previously tried his luck in 2014 but lost to former governor of the state, Rauf Aregbesola. He tried again in 2018 on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) against the current governor, Ademola Adeleke, but lost his bid.

Now the former scribe of the ruling party is all set to unleash all of his political capital to ensure he defeat Adeleke in the poll. To this end, he has christened his renewed moves to occupy the government house with his mission – “Omisore for 2026-The Rescue Mission Begins.”

His campaign office which he used for the 2014 governorship campaign has been reactivated with his campaign posters and billboards, including that of President Bola Tinubu’s posters and the flags of the APC.

Although he has not formally submitted any letter of intent to run for the governorship to the APC leadership in the state, his Omisore Youths Solidarity Forum (OYSF), a political structure he established in 2014, has begun subtle mobilisation for their principal.
