Saturday April 12th was not your average day. It was a day businessman, socialite and philanthropist, Obinna Iyiegbu who is more popularly referred to as Obi Cubana shut down the city of Abuja in celebration of his 50th birthday. It wasn’t your average kind of golden jubilee; it was a curated festival of symbolism. The hashtag for the weeklong celebration, #50-for-50 was not just a birthday tagline, but a self-styled manifesto of what ambition looks like when soaked with stature and influence. Abuja witnessed a stunning fusion of opulence, culture, and heartfelt celebration as many travelled from across the globe just to appreciate the impact of Obi Cubana in their lives.

Here is what went down at the opulent celebration

An Outpouring Of Gifts
Even before the birthday celebrations started, gifts were already pouring in for the celebrant, so much so that he got overwhelmed by them. Opening the floodgates of gifts was Chukwuemeka Ituma the Chairman of Enviable Group of Companies which consists of Enviable Transport and Enviable Tricycles. Chukwuemeka, who is also the celebrant’s business partner, donated 50 tricycles in celebration of Obi’s birthday. The tricycles loaded in two trailers were driven from Lagos to Abuja and off loaded at the backyard of Obi’s palatial home. He told the celebrant to distribute them as he wishes as a means of empowerment to those deserving of it. A week later, he was back in Obi’s home, this time with a bag of money. According to him he wants to ensure that everything is well taken care of at the party and nothing is left wanting.
Another friend of the celebrant simply known as Dr Frank donated 50 live rams in commemoration of the birthday.
MARASOFT, a fast-rising FINTECH company donated 10 fat rams to him.
DeeUtensils, a foremost home ware store in Abuja donated to the celebrant, 50 amazing food warmer containers.
A certain Pastor Samson delivered to him 50 different versions of the Holy Bible.
Then came the biggest. CIG Motors gave him 50 brand new minibuses each adorned with his image, in celebration of his birthday. The minibuses, he was told, were a means of youth empowerment to those deserving of it.
Another friend of the celebrant, Elvis Abuyere donated five fat cows for the birthday celebrations.
Again, another friend of his, Ndulue Kenechukwu, a businessman, drove to his house, one full truck load of drinks all the way from Lagos. The drinks were top of the range choice drinks such as Aman Tequila, Goldbar Whiskey, Angelus Premium wine, Mazzetti D’Altavilla drink etc.
Similarly, another friend of the celebrant who he refers to as Fingarz delivered another great number of Aman Tequila for the party.
Another friend and ally, Ikechukwu Jordan Nahasi gave him a fat envelope.
The founders of Hammer Games not only bankrolled a major part of the birthday party, but they also added an extra five heavy cows as a mark of honour.
Then Samsung branded 50 special Samsung Galaxy S25 exclusively for his 50th birthday. It was a limited edition.
Sanitary wares suppliers, Imperial Standard Bathroom and Kitchen, donated 50 standard wall-hung water closets, reflecting elegance and sophistication to the celebrant.
The chairman and founder of DBen Estate gifted the celebrant 50 native attires from the stable of Abuja based fashion entrepreneur, Seyi Adekunle aka Seyi Vodi.
Another friend and admirer who preferred to remain anonymous delivered to the celebrant a camel all the way from Morocco.
Other noteworthy contributions included 2,000 cartons of tin and sachet tomatoes from Sonia Foods; a cow from the policemen attached to him; another cow from an artisan that worked in his house; five cows from Grace Ofure; a fat envelope from one of his friends, Etele Chio; 50 hairs from Neny Luscious Hairs; 50 different luxury women clothes from Abuja based fashion designer, Bibi Christopher; 50 luxury female handbags by Maknisy etc.

Celebrating With Purpose And Generosity
In collaboration with Gold Bar Whiskey, the celebrant launched the ‘Golden Age with Gold Bar’ campaign—a creative initiative calling on artists to design a commemorative 50th birthday logo. The winning artist stood a chance to receive N2 million, a luxury car, and VIP access to events in Abuja, Lagos, and select international cities. The campaign showcased Obi Cubana’s continuous drive to empower and uplift.

God First Before The Celebrations
Obi Cubana began the celebrations on a solemn, spiritual note with a Holy Communion and Thanksgiving Service at the Anglican Church, grounding the celebrations in gratitude and reflection. This was a day before the d-day. This act before the festivities, underscored his long-standing balance between business brilliance and spiritual mindfulness.

All White Samsung Party 
In the evening after giving thanks to his maker, Samsung set the tone for what was to come. They hosted the celebrant to an all-white exclusive party titled ‘The Night Before 50.’ Hosted in Abuja, the soirée combined tech and celebration in true Cubana style, as 50 units of the flagship Samsung S25 smartphone were gifted to guests in his honour.

The Grand Finale
The main event, held at the Transcorp Hilton, was a spectacle of elegance and pageantry. With a palette of black, white, and gold, the venue dazzled under crystal chandeliers, floral centrepieces, golden chairs, and towering portraits of the celebrant, transforming the hall into a royal banquet befitting the king of nightlife. There was enough food and drinks to go round. The fire service, Red Cross, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and the army were all on ground to ensure that nothing went wrong at the party.

Clergymen In The House
Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly and Pastor Jerry Eze, convener of the New Season Prophetic Prayers (NSPPD) and Lead Pastor of Streams of Joy International were very much present at that party. Pastor Jerry led the opening prayers.

The Trio Of Ay Makun, Funnybone And Ajebo Comedian
These three comedians – Ayo Makun, Stanley Chibunna aka Funny Bone and Erem Emeka aka Ajebo Comedian were the celebrant’s choice for masters of ceremony. The trio were responsible for steering proceedings at the party.

The Performances
The performances were a blend of tradition and glamour. Highlife artists, dancers, and cultural performers transformed the atmosphere. From Frank Ifeanyi Don aka Anyidon who sang his tribute single, ‘Obi Cubana Special (Okpole Nwa Mama)’, an emotional nod to the man behind the empire to Theresa Onuoha to Chinedu Okoli aka Flavour to Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu aka Odumodubvclk. They all got the guests on their feet dancing in excitement.

Foreign Currency Dominated The Night
Although naira was sprayed in notes and in bundles, it was however dollars and pounds that dominated the night. That was what seperated the boys from the men. It was in abundance.

More Rain Of Gifts
While an unnamed businessman gave the celebrant N100 million at the party, Olusola Awujoola the face behind Malivehood, a luxury jewelry designer present Obi a limited-edition diamond watch with Nigerian coat of arms dial.
