The Abuja office of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, was on Monday, September 9, raided by Department of State Services, DSS, agents.

Sources reveal that the officers were seeking to speak with the directors of the organization.

A post on SERAP’s X (Twitter) account stated: “Officers from Nigeria’s State Security Service (SSS) are currently unlawfully occupying SERAP’s office in Abuja, asking to see our directors.

“President Tinubu must immediately instruct the SSS to cease the harassment, intimidation, and attacks on the rights of Nigerians.”

This raid comes on the heels of the recent arrest of Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, by DSS operatives at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

Ajaero was detained just before he was set to board a flight to the United Kingdom for an official trip.
