Hilda Effiong Bassey, aka Hilda Baci, has surpassed the current Guinness World Record holder.

The 27-year-old ended her four-day marathon cooking after hitting the 88-hour mark which surpasses the feat achieved by Indian born chef, Lata Tondon in 2019 with 87 hours 45 minutes record uninterrupted cooking.

27-year-old Hilda has now set a new record of 100 hours nonstop cooking.

Baci’s cooking marathon took place at Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos State.

The restaurateur who owns My Food by Hilda began the competition on Thursday after she turned on her cooker at 4pm and surpassed the current world record holder on Monday morning.

Support from VIPs
Hilda got a lot of support not only from ordinary Nigerians but also important personalities. From Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who put a call to her, to Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu who personally visited her to cheer her on. Others who showed her support were president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio who visited her and promised to reward her handsomely, Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Akwa Ibom State governor, Emmanuel Udom.

Not also forgetting Atiku Abubakar, former vice president and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; Margaret Obi, wife of Peter Obi who was there physically to cheer her on.

Other celebrities who appeared physically to cheer her on were, singers, Tiwa Savage, Boye Best, Charles Okocha, Oludipe Oluwasanmi David aka Spyro, Kafayat Shafau, Aboriomoh Femi Raymond aka Dremo who serenaded her etc.

In addition to traditional cultural groups from Akwa Ibom serenading the audience and cheering her on, her mum was also on hand to support her. She runs Calabar Pot, a restaurant in Abuja.

Rain of gifts
For her feat, a financial solution app, Vesti App offered Hilda an all-expense paid trip to the Maldives for summer. So also Zaron a skincare and makeup brand which promised her a year worth of products as well as Renew Aesthetics, an Abuja based cosmetic surgery clinic that has offered free body reconstruction surgery for any lady chosen by Hilda from her hordes of fans. It is worthy to note that Hilda had a Brazilian Butt Lift surgery with Renew Aesthetics a while back.

Fondly called Jollof queen, Hilda is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time. From Akwa Ibom State. She owns ‘My Food by Hilda’, a fast food restaurant located in Lagos. Hilda who is also an actress and a television producer has shown her culinary skills on various Television Cook shows and represented Nigeria at the Jollof Faceoff Competition in 2021, emerging as the winner.

While Dana Air announced its support for Hilda with one year of free tickets for all her domestic travels, Value Jet airline pledged six months free tickets to her to celebrate her great feat.
