23-year-old Nigerian-American author, Tomi Adeyemi has landed two massive deals for her debut young adult fantasy novel, ‘Children of Blood and Bone’, the first in a trilogy. The unpublished novel must be really great since it caught the attention of both Fox 2000 ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ and Macmillan Publishing, with a seven-figure deal, one of the biggest YA debut novel publishing deals ever.

Described as The Last Airbender meets #BlackLivesMatter, ‘Children of Blood and Bone follows’ Zélie Adebola, who at six years old watched her mother get murdered. Ten years after the raid that made her an orphan and banished magic from her people, Zélie finally has a chance to make things right.

Speaking about what inspired the book, she said,
“I want a little black girl to pick up my book one day and see herself as the star. I want her to know that she’s beautiful and she matters and she can have a crazy, magical adventure even if an ignorant part of the world tells her she can never be Hermione Granger.”

No news however has been released on when the book and the movie will actually be released.
