Former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience have been pictured celebrating with APC chieftains made up of Jigawa Governor Badaru, Chairman APC Campaign Organisation, Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Ita Enang, among others, during a visit to their residence on Saturday evening.

This comes hours after David Lyon, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of the Bayelsa gubernatorial poll. Lyon, a political godson of Mrs Jonathan, pulled off an upset by beating Senator Duoye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 16 election.

The APC chieftains made the stop hours after the governorship election in the state. It is still unclear if it was a courtesy or ‘Thank you visit’ as being suggested in some quarters.

But Jonthan reportedly fell out with Governor Dickson after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries that produced Senator Douye Diri. He was conspicuously absent at the candidate’s campaign grand finale.

On October 10, Jonathan and President Muhammadu Buhari held a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa, a parley some analysts are linking to the governorship poll.
