President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress as well as the Presidential Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and his Allied Congress Party of Nigeria counterpart, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, have all signed the peace pact on the conduct of the 2019 elections today. The National Peace Accord was convened by eminent Nigerians led by a former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd).
While Buhari signed his on Tuesday, Atiku and Ezekwesili signed theirs on Wednesday. The former Vice President had explained that he did not receive any formal invitation to be part of the event on Tuesday. Other presidential candidates absent at the event were Donald Duke of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Kingsley Moghalu of Young Progressives Party (YPP), Oby Ezekwesili of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), and Omoyele Sowore of African Action Congress (AAC).
In the build-up to the 2015 election, the committee facilitated the signing of the peace accord between former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Buhari and 12 other candidates for the presidential election.
