Wonu Okoye who once co-owned L’Espace a multi-brand concept store that began in 2011, with business partner, Isoken Ogiemwoyin and Le Petit Marche, a monthly designer market, has expanded her frontiers and has added manufacturer to her resume. Wonu who moved on after L’Espace closed down to set up her own store, Meidei, an uptown bohemian retail concept store, now also runs a luxury handbag making company called Apàárt. Derived from the words, ‘Akpa’ which means ‘bag’ in Igbo and incidentally ‘arm’ in Yoruba and ART because bag making is an art, the logo of the bag is also derived from the ancient Nsibidi script of Eastern Nigeria. The Apàárt bag has grown in the nine months since it made its debut, become a must have for the discerning woman.
