Actress, Viola Davis started off the new year on a right note by becoming the first person to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actress was presented with the plaque while surrounded by her husband, Julius Tennon and their daughter, Genesis by none other than the great Meryl Streep who happens to be her longtime friend. The talented pair co-starred in the 2008 drama, Doubt, which brought Davis her first Oscar nomination. Her second came for her captivating performance in the 2011 film, The Help.
Beyond the Oscar nominations, 51 year old Viola is the first black woman to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her starring role in How To Get Away with Murder, in 2015. She has won two Tony Awards for her Broadway performances in Fences and King Hedley II, and has racked up multiple Critics’ Choice Awards, SAG Awards, and People’s Choice Awards.
