Collins Enebeli, Mavin Records CEO, Don Jazzy’s father, was recently awarded the merit award for excellence for his contribution to the growth of the music and entertainment industry in Nigeria.

A one-time executive of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) and a former actor on several shows on the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), he is currently the president of Artistes Managers Association in Nigeria (AMAN).

The ceremony which took place at the Lagos State University was attended by some students of the Theatre and Music department who honoured him as well as veteran artists, Majek Fashek, Baba Fryo, Ayo Bankole, Stella Monye and new comers, his son, D’Prince and Dija among other music industry personalities.

There were performances by some of the school’s students and musicians such as Stella Monye and Majek Fashek in honour of Don Jazzy’s father as well as a speech on the future of music business entrepreneurship in Nigeria by the recipient of the award.

The event which holds once a year has played host to the likes of Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, Yinka Davies, and Dede Mabiaku.
