An irate group of youths have attacked some policemen in a police station with acid following the killing of a young man in an unprovoked encounter earlier today at Nkpor, Anambra State while the police officers were enforcing the lockdown order. The attack left some policemen running for their lives.

The Anambra Police Command spokesperson, Haruna Mohamed confirmed that some members of a police patrol team were attacked by the youths. He said an unprovoked attack was launched against a Police patrol team, with a substance suspected to be acid even as he disclosed further that the errant youths tried to snatch some rifles from the police operatives.

The PPRO said efforts were ongoing to restore sanity in the area and that the commissioner of police CP John Abang has ordered a discreet investigation into the remote reason the protest took place in the first instance.
