Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, founder of popular film awards, African Movie Academy Awards (AMMA), is dead.
The influential filmmaker breathed her last at St Nicholas hospital, Lagos on Monday.
“Thank you and good night dada Peace,” Obi Emelonye, thr producer of Last Flight to Abuja said in a short tribute to her while confirming her demise.
Another Nollywood icon, songwriter and film maker, Mike Nliam, queried, “How can 2023 start like this?”
Peace who was widely referred to as the ‘queen of Nollywood films’ is a graduate of Law and political science from Oxford Brookes University.
She pioneered the screening of Nollywood films at international film festivals.
She also directed the first music video of hip-hop sensation, P-Square In 2012.
She was bestowed a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic by the Nigerian government for her contribution to the entertainment industry.
