Chris Ngige, minister of labour and employment and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), yesterday campaigned for Ayodele Fayose, Ekiti state governor during the mega rally of the party in Ado-Ekiti. The rally held ahead of the state’s governorship election slated for July 14.

Ngigie metaphorically referred to Kayode Fayemi, the APC governorship candidate and the opposition parties as “wives with husbands”. While extolling Fayemi’s achievements, he said people should “vote for Fayose” (rather than Fayemi) on the election day based on his performance as a “good wife”.

“Those who want Saturday to happen, raise your hand… with PVC and everything. Mr. President and leaders of our party, our people are ready and on Saturday it will happen. We thank the leaders of our party, especially those from the south-west for forgiving the Ekiti people for the mistake they made in 2014, so they won’t make that mistake again,” he said.

He added in Pidgin: “Fayose is the better wife, he dey cook dey give husband food, he no dey give am trouble. So you must bring back Fayose on Saturday.”
