The former governor of Abia State has lost his wife, Mrs. Ifeoma Ada Kalu.
She was aged 61.
While the cause of her death is still unknown, she reportedly died in the United States of America.
Announcing her death on his Facebook page, Kalu described her as a woman of virtues who was committed to the service of God and humanity.
A memorial service would be held in her honour in the US.
Kalu asked Nigerians to remember her and loved ones in prayers at this difficult period.
