Former governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has been released has been granted administrative bail from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Tambuwal, who was detained on Monday at the corporate headquarters of the commission in Jabi, Abuja, for alleged withdrawal of some cash to the tune of N189 billion when he was governor.
The former governor had honoured an invitation by the commission at about 11:16 a.m. on Monday, but was subsequently taken into custody after reportedly failing to answer questions posed to him
A top official of the commission said he was granted administrative bail, saying he would be allowed to leave the commission’s headquarters after perfecting his bail conditions.
EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the development, saying: “Yes, he has been released after perfecting his bail condition.”
