There are indications that Nollywood actor and politician, Desmond Elliot‘s political career may have just come to an end as stakeholders in Surulere have rejected his bid for a fourth term as a lawmaker.
Desmond represents Surulere Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The rejection is based on the poor performance of Elliot’s previous three terms, which included minimal constituency projects and limited legislative impact. The Surulere accountability Forum representing community leaders, youth groups, small-business representatives, and civil society organizations, criticized Elliot for lacking creativity and drive to address local issues such as infrastructure decay, youth unemployment, and inadequate primary healthcare. The group emphasized that three terms should have produced clear, measurable progress, but instead, they experienced stagnation and recycled idea.
The coalition’s position is not based on personal bias but on a firm belief that leadership must remain accountable and reflective of the evolving aspirations of the people.
Well, if the prayer of the group comes to fruition, Desmond won’t be left stranded as he already has his acting career to fall back on.
