Senate President Godswill Akpabio has responded to the sexual harassment allegations made against him by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central Senatorial District.

Addressing the claims, Akpabio firmly denied any wrongdoing, stating: “I would like to state clearly that at no time did I ever attempt any sexual harassment on the said Distinguished Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan or any other woman for that matter.

“I and my siblings were raised very well by my late single mother. She died in the year 2000, through a very difficult time,” the senator said at a plenary on Wednesday.

Shortly after Akpabio addressed the allegations against him, Akpoti-Uduaghan formally submitted a petition accusing him of sexual harassment.

She presented the petition on the Senate floor under Order 40 of the Senate Rules, bringing the matter before her colleagues for official consideration.
