Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed more popularly known as Aisha Binani, has joined the growing list of Nigerians who have ventured into the aviation business. She is one of two women who play big in the aviation sector in Nigeria.

The other is Elizabeth Jack-Rich but Aishatu is the first woman in Nigeria to establish a full-fledged airline.

Back in 2023, Aisha who was a gubernatorial candidate in Adamawa State had taken delivery of an Embraer aircraft with Binani boldly emblazoned on it in preparation for the take-off of her airline. More aircrafts were expected to join the growing fleet with secured counter spaces in some airports and their banners fully displayed. Unfortunately, the take-off did not happen.

Now three years after, the airline is all set to be active in the coming weeks. With headquarters in Adamawa State Binani Air is poised to fly the Yola-Lagos, Maiduguri, Port Harcourt, Kano, Gombe, and Bauchi routes, among others. Ironically, Binani Air, has has been in the offing since 2020. The airline has now officially received its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), marking the company’s entry into the Nigerian aviation industry. The certification, issued in Abuja, authorises the airline to commence commercial flight operations and represents the culmination of years of planning, regulatory compliance, and strategic development by the Binani Group.

While Aishatu remains the founder of the airline, her daughter, Aminatu Danjuma Goje is the airline’s Group President.
