The marriage of businesswoman and socialite, Erelu Abibat Odunbaku-Bello, has come to an end.
The marriage which took place in June 2025 in a very lavish ceremony, ended quietly because her husband, Idris Bello, the son of a popular Lagos Island fabric seller, Kemi Bello, allegedly married another lady who is based in Canada, months after his own lavish wedding party with her in Lagos. Idris according to sources, reportedly contracted a ‘fake’ marriage with the lady so as to enable her take better care of his children from his two previous marriages.
There are reports that he was forced to carry out this contractual wedding because Erelu Abibat allegedly didn’t welcome his children into his home with open arms. They had previously been staying with their grandmother, Kemi Bello prior to his marriage to Erelu Abibat but after the wedding, the grandmother thought it wise to have the children from his previous marriages live with their father under the same roof, a move that Erelu Abibat allegedly wasn’t happy about and that necessitated her husband to relocate them to Canada under the protection of the female friend he contracted the supposed ‘fake’ marriage with. It was a move his mother supported and that allegedly, further broke down relations between Erelu Abibat, her husband and her inlaws.
Erelu Abibat is no small fry in Lagos social establishment. Born and raised in Isale Eko, Lagos Island, she is a luxury fabrics trader who began trading in fabrics over 28 years ago. Her business name is AbikeLagos. She is also into entertainment, real estate and hospitality business. She holds the chieftaincy titles of Erelu of Owode Egba, Erelu of Otto and Mainland Kingdom.
