Just in: Morsi didn’t die of natural causes – Turkish president, Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accused the Egyptian authorities of killing his close friend, Mohammed Morsi, a former president of Egypt.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accused the Egyptian authorities of killing his close friend, Mohammed Morsi, a former president of Egypt. He accused the Egyptian authorities of failing to intervene to save the ex-president when he fell down and was struggling on the floor of the courtroom for 20 minutes.

Erdogan said during a televised speech in Istanbul, that “Morsi was killed, he did not die of natural causes.”

Mohammed Morsi had been in court for a hearing on charges of espionage emanating from suspected contacts with the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, which had close ties to the Brotherhood. The fifth President of Egypt, from 30 June 2012 to 3 July 2013, he wa removed from office in a coup d’etat by General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
