While Ruti Olajugbagbe was the bookies’ second favourite to win The Voice 2018, she fought off stiff competition from the other finalists to emerge winner of The Voice UK 2018. She emerged champion after three incredible performances, with her final song, ‘Dreams’ by The Cranberries, which became available as soon as the competition ended on Saturday. Earlier in the show, she was joined by coach Tom Jones to sing Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a Wonderful World’. This was followed by her version of Daniel Bedingfield’s ‘If You’re Not The One’. She won the £100,000 prize, as well as a deal with Republic Records.
Ruti Olajugbagbe is no stranger to competition; she’s a student and a part-time carer, but in her spare time she’s a member of both a harmony group and a dance crew. This will be the second time a Nigerian will be winning the reality music competition. In April 2017, a Nigerian singer, Mo Adeniran, won the same UK edition of The Voice
