An alleged closed-circuit television footage of the Offa bank robbery has surfaced. The four-minute video, which went viral on the Internet on Wednesday, revealed the moment the robbers attacked one of the five affected banks. The gunmen had neutralised the security post with what appeared to be grenades before entering the bank and operating unfettered. Recall that on Thursday, April 5, armed robbers invaded five banks in Offa, Kwara State, killing scores of residents, including policemen, bank workers and passersby. The gunmen carted away, millions of naira as they robbed the banks for about one hour unchallenged by security agents. While the state commissioner of Police, Ado lawan put the casualty figure at 17 including nine police officers, the operations commander, vigilante group of Nigeria, Offa Kwara State chapter, Wasiu Adepoju however said vigilantes in the state counted 50 dead bodies.

In the footage, a woman and her child were seen leaving what looked like the ATM house of a bank when gun bearing men started shooting sporadically from the major road. Two men standing by the small house took off immediately they heard the gunshots, while the camera angle did not show what became of the woman and the child she was holding. After that, three armed men were seen going around seemingly coordinating what next to do. Smoke, which appeared to come from explosives were also seen after a banging noise. Another explosive was later thrown into what seem like the small building housing the ATM. Then the men went inside and came out.
