Even though the Soundcity MVP Awards, an event where award plaques are given to musicians and performers across Africa who have done incredibly well with their craft in the past year, may have come and gone, the aftermath of the well put together ceremony still resonates, with many still basking in the glory of their winnings, losers still sore from not getting a plaque, the inability of the ceremony to hold last year after bouncing back from a hiatus in 2016, the stadium-like seating seating arrangement, which may perhaps set the tone for concert seating arrangements going forward and of course a reminder that the renewed friendship between Davido and Wizkid is no fluke, it is here to stay.

The host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu

The televised award ceremony cum concert which saw former Big Brother Nigeria contestant turned Big Brother Naija host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu as host, was to say the least, everything the audience hoped for and much more. Held at the Eko Hotel Convention center, there were quite a number of performers drawn across the African continent. From South Africa’s Cassper Nyovest to Ghana’s Sarkodie to a floodgate of Nigerian artistes; Davido, Tiwa Savagae, Maleek Berry, M.I. Abaga who made a come back with a spectacular performance, Seyi Shay, Skales, Small Doctor etc.
