Heavily armed security personnel believed to be operatives of the Department of State Security Service (SSS) have  arrested Abubakar Idriss, popularly known as Abu Hanifa Dadiyata in his Kaduna residence last night. His arrest was confirmed in a statement on Friday issued by Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, the spokesperson to the 2019 PDP governorship candidate for Kano State, Abba Yusuf. The statement called on the SSS to release Mr Dadiyata unhurt and without any condition.

“Report reaching us has confirmed that heavily armed security personnel believed to be operatives of the DSS have arrested Abubakar Idriss, popularly known as Abu Hanifa Dadiyata in his Kaduna residence last night. Dadiyata is the leading social media activist in Twitter community that protects and projects Kwankwasiyya ideology and the PDP in northern Nigeria,” the statement read in part.

“Married with children, a University Lecturer, Abubakar Dadiyata is currently a student of Ph.D in Strategic Communication at a Malaysian University. We want to use this medium to call on security agencies to as a matter of responsibility release Abubakar Dadiyata unhurt and without any condition. As members of the opposition in Kano and Nigeria we will continue to give constructive criticism to the ruling party within the confines of the law,” the statement added.
