She is possibly the greatest tennis player of all time and certainly the most recognizable but Serena Williams hasn’t always had it good in the love department despite having dated a string of men.

From her brief dalliance with Canadian rapper, Drake to Hollywood film director, Brett Ratner to her former tennis coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, to a professional basketball player, an actor and Bulgarian tennis hunk, Grigor Dimitrov who went on to have a two year relationship with her once bitter rival, Maria Sharapova, causing her to declare that he has a black heart – love has eluded Serena.

Which is why when news of her engagement broke last week, many were taken aback, having been public before now with her previous relationship. The 35 year old managed to evade public scrutiny with her relationship with Alexis whom she dated for over a year and who proposed to her at the very same table where they first met in Rome and had lunch.
So who exactly is Alexis Ohanian, the man who has managed to sweep Serena off her feet?

Shortly after he left, he launched a few preposterously-named yet profitable start-ups, such as travel search engine, Hipmunk and social enterprise, Breadpig

He is also an author with a best-selling book, Without Their Permission: How the 21st Century Will Be Made, Not Managed.

His net worth is estimated at be around $4.5m while that of his soon-to-be-wife is 33 times more than his, with an estimated net worth of $150m, making her the world’s highest paid female athlete.
