Nigerian musician, Seun Kuti has defied both the Lagos State Government and the Nigerian Police Force by going ahead with his planned #Endsars meeting.

The meeting which was earlier scheduled to hold at African Shrine had to be moved to a new venue due to a warning from the police and the state government barring him from holding the meeting at the venue or risk the place being shut down.

Seun had agreed not to hold the meeting there out of respect for his family but vowed to hold it else where, adfing that he will not to be intimated into silence.

To ensure that the meeting doesn’t hold at the African Shrine, police officers were seen occupying strategic positions around the shrine and prevented movement in and out of the place.

Seun however went ahead with his meeting with the revival of ‘The Movement Of The People’, the political movement of his famous late father and afrobeat pioneer, Fela Kuti.

The Movement of the People, is part of his drive to call for better governance in the country, as well as an end to police brutality.

Kuti while addressing the press on Tuesday at the Kalakuta Museum in the Ikeja area of Lagos, said the days in which members of his family were being harassed by security operatives appears to have returned.

He vowed to mobilise citizens to rise and defend their rights under the aegis of the revived movement.
