Achuba, who has a frosty relationship with Governor Yahaya  Bello,  at a press conference on Sunday at his home in Lokoja claimed his life was  in danger following the withdrawal of all his security detail allegedly  by the ADC to the governor.

But in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary Akor Sylvester on Monday, Achuba said his security team resumed work  same Sunday night. He commended the Inspector-General of Police and the state Commissioner of Police for their intervention. He however, urged the police to monitor the  officers  deployed in  sensitive duty posts in the state to avoid  used for unlawful assignments.

The deputy governor at the press conference on Sunday said he was about traveling to his hometown with his security men when the governor called them for a briefing. He said on getting to the government house, the governor’s ADC took them to the office of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) to make a statement. They accused them of gunrunning but both of them denied the allegation.

Even though he reported the incidence to the national leader of the APC, nothing was done. According to him, his imprest was stopped by the governor for no reason. He added that he lived in the house without security, travelled home without police. He also said light and water to his residence had been cut off as well.

Kingsley Fanwo, the spokesman of the governor had said the governor could not be blamed for the withdrawal of his deputy’s security aides as it was not the responsibility of the governor to give security even to himself.
