Do you know that rice is a major skin rejuvenating agent,  very rich in linoleic acid and squalene which are powerful antioxidants that stimulate collagen production and this helps to slow down the growth of wrinkles and prevent skin damage through a rice facial? A rice facial mask is suitable for all skin types, including those with acne, sensitive skin or dry skin. You don’t have to go to a spa or spend a ton of cash on store-bought rice facials

Other major benefits of rice facial include:

  • Fights acne: Rice water helps heal acne and cools the redness of an outbreak.
  • Leaves the skin clear and bright: Rice water changes the texture and clarity of your skin leaving it extremely smooth.
  • Sunburn remedy: Rice water cools inflamed and burnt skin. It also helps the skin recover fast and prevents further damage.
  • Soothes dry and itchy skin: The soothing nature of rice water makes it an effective remedy for rashes and other skin conditions
  • Reduces enlarged pores: It acts as an astringent on the skin; tightening the pores

How to make rice facial mask
You can’t use actual grains for a face mask. Instead, use rice flour or rice water to make a homemade rice facial mask.

Things you’ll need

  • 1/2 cup rice
  • 2 bowls
  • Spoon
  • Sieve
  • Scissors
  • Paper towel
  • Small potato
  • Knife
  • Cheese grater
  • Rice flour

With rice water

Step 1
Pour 1/2 cup of rice into a bowl. Add enough water to fill the bowl about 1 inch above the rice. Stir well with a spoon.

Step 2
Let the rice sit in the water until it looks cloudy, for about 30 to 60 minutes. Pour the rice and water through a sieve into a clean bowl to separate the rice and water.

Step 3
Use a pair of scissors to cut eye, nose and mouth holes in a paper towel to use for your mask. Soak the paper towel in the rice water for 10 minutes.

Step 4
Remove the paper towel carefully and wring it out gently. Lay down and place the paper towel on your face for 15 minutes.

With rice flour

Step 1
Peel a small potato with a knife. Grate the raw potato with a cheese grater.

Step 2
Put a handful of the grated potato into your hand. Squeeze it over a bowl to extract the juice.

Step 3
Add rice flour to the potato juice, a pinch at a time. Stir the juice as you’re adding the rice flour until it turns into a paste.

Step 4
Smooth the paste onto your face with your fingertips. Leave it on for 10 to 20 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
