Businessman and socialite, Larry Onuegbu just got his groove back as they say and he is all set to return to his rightful place in night clubbing business in Nigeria. The man about town is currently putting finishing touches in place for the relaunch his defunct Auto lounge which was once the ‘it’ place to go to for a night out, years back. That was until an unpalatable incidence forced him to take a breather from the limelight. It was about the real mileage and the actual model of a Porsche Cayene SUV bought from him by Dumebi Kachikwu, the younger brother to the current Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu. Dumebi had planned to gift the SUV to his ex brother in-law, rapper, Naeto-C on his wedding day. According to Dumebi, not only was the Porsche not a 2012 model as expected but rather a 2009 model, it was Nigerian used and Larry had bought it off a bank director who had used it for a while. It wasn’t brand new. Also, the mileage on it was allegedly reduced to make it an attractive buy.

Well not only was their friendship ruined, over trust issues, it ended up becoming a police case being investigated at the Special Anti Fraud Unit, Ikoyi at that time. As expected, the media was awash with the story of how Larry Onuegbu had tried to play smart, allegedly with Dumebi. Larry who felt he had done no wrong slammed a libel suit against Dumebi.  He insisted that the SUV was new and rather it was Dumebi who tried to play smart with him when he requested payment which was N14m at that time. Fortunately, after four years, Larry Onuegbu was able to exonerate himself. An Abuja High Court awarded him N2 million as damages for inconveniences suffered and loss of business. This was contrary to what Larry Onuegbu sought which were: N1bn damages including aggravated damages for defamation and an order for a written apology to be published prominently in a Sunday Thisday Newspaper edition.

So having tried his hands in several businesses including a car shop, Mega Point automobiles, a café which he named Café Vanessa, Auto lounge café in Abuja, a restaurant, Casper & Gambini, 1089 ADRESS nightclub and rooftop bar, among several other businesses, Larry Onuegbu decided to go back to the business that actually brought him fame, the night club. His return to it is contrary to the news that made the rounds that he had given up on the night club business. The soon to be relaunched Auto lounge will boast of a luxury motors showroom that provides an extensive portfolio of contemporary ultra-exotic automobiles in a luxurious environment where one can relax with exotic drinks, food and the best music from around the world. It is expected to be a melting point for African and contemporary entertainment and a quintessential nightspot for the ultimate nightlife experience.
