The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has been dragged for having taken too long to acknowledge the Nigerians of Igbo extractions who recently made headlines for making Nigeria proud in the diaspora and even worse, refusing to mention their names.

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri had put out a post questioning why Abike Dabiri was yet to acknowledge a Nigerian of Igbo extraction, Kaycee Madu who got appointed a minister in a G-8 nation, Canada to be precise. Recall that the Presidential aide had been accused of stereotyping the Igbos, after she released the names of the Nigerians who were accused of robbing a Bureau De Change to the tune of Dh 2.3 million Dinars in Sharjah Area of Dubai.

Reno Omokri in his post said, “For the first time, a Nigerian is appointed a minister in a G-8 nation. Kaycee Madu is minister for Municipal Affairs in Alberta, Canada. I thought Abike Dabiri would celebrate this feat. How does it make sense to highlight the Dubai robbery and downplay this amazing feat? This is exactly what Abike said precisely 2 months ago today, while reacting to the Dubai robbery “We need to tell our brothers behaving badly to behave. Let’s get the names of those involved to name and shame them.” ‪What I can’t understand is why she can’t apply the same philosophy to Kaycee Madu of Canada.”

Ignoring that, she also refused to mention Ernest Ezeajughi, the Nigeran elected Mayor in London hen news of his victory broke. Instead, in a congratulatory tweet, she wrote; ‘Nigerian elected Mayor in London. Proudly Nigerian.’

Again, Reno Omokri took to his social media to call her out. He said, “While I rejoice at #FreeZainabAliyu, I ask that you take part in an experiment. Close your eyes and imagine that her name was not ZAINAB, but NGOZI, and it was not SAUDI ARABIA, but INDONESIA. Would Buhari and Abike Dabiri have acted? Look at the record-breaking speed with which this administration exposed the identities of the Dubai robbery suspects, yet hid the identities of those on death row for drug offences in Saudi Arabia, until the Saudi Arabian authorities published their names.

“In 2018, 5 girls from Onitsa in Anambra, won the 2018 Technovation Challenge. It is the STEM Olympic. CNN celebrated them. But till today, neither Buhari nor Abike Dabiri acknowledged them. They have both also not acknowledged Kaycee Madu, the first Nigerian appointed a minister in a G-8 nation. If these were robbers, we wouldn’t have heard the last from them. Buhari likes to say ‘if we do not kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria.’ He is wrong. According to Transparency International, Nigeria is more corrupt today than in 2015 because ‘if we do not kill TRIBALISM, it will lead to corruption, which will kill Nigeria’ #BuhariAndAbikeDabirisTribalism.
