Broken marriages seems to have become second nature to Moji, the ex wife of Gbenga Obasanjo. Barely has her second marriage to Dr Akinkunmi Abiodun Mustapha, a former Lagos State Commissioner for Finance marinated, that the three year old union crashed like a pack of badly arranged cards.
Moji who is the first daughter of wealthy businessman, Alex Onabanjo, had in the year 2000 hooked Gbenga, the first son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. The couple had tried to settle down to a supposed life of bliss, complete with two kids before trouble reared its ugly head and both decided to go their separate ways.
Moji would later embrace a pariah lifestyle but shed that toga when she crossed paths with Akinkunmi, an urbane academic who later became Commissioner for Finance. Swept off her feet and attempting to give love a second chance, the duo got married in 2011 and even welcomed a baby boy to further cement their love.
But again, the demons of divorce soon reared its ugly heads and almost two years after her husband was relieved of his position by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, the couple began to experience hiccups in their marriage until they both finally decided to give themselves a wide berth. Moji who currently runs a home ware outfit has since moved out of her matrimonial home into one of her father’s serviced apartments on the island.
Sadly, the divorce seems to have become all too familiar in her family as her father also parted ways with his wife of over 40 years, Lanre Adesanya-Onabanjo a few years ago. Their union began to suffer hiccups after their third daughter, Omobusola, got married. No one can say exactly what the problem was but from all indications, the blame laid solely at the feet of the patriarch of the Onabanjo family who was determined to spend the rest of his life without the mother of his five daughters and grandmother of several grandchildren by his side. Their children’s efforts to reconcile them have all ended in futility.
