Senator Dino Melaye’s recall from the Senate is already gathering steam as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable has been released along with the schedule of activities for the recall of the senator who represents  Kogi West Senatorial District, Kogi State in the Senate.

INEC will on the 19th of August conduct a verification of signatures of petitioners demanding the  recall, which were submitted to the commission in all the polling units in the constituency and on the  same day declare the outcome of the verification at the INEC  Local Government Office in Lokoja.

The INEC Secretary, Mrs Augusta Ogakwu said that the commission would also on July 10, paste verification notice at its Local Government Office in Lokoja. She equally set July 30, as the last day for the submission of application by interested observers, who would want to particulate in the exercise at the INEC headquarters office.

She added that the commission has fixed August 10 for the last day for submission of names of verification agents for the member sought to be recalled and the petitioners while a stakeholders’ meeting for the exercise has been scheduled to hold on August 15, at INEC office in Lokoja.

She stated that the commission would issue the INEC timetable along with the schedule of activities for the conduct of a referendum subject to the outcome of the verification exercise.

Recall that aggrieved voters from Senator Dino Melaye’s constituency presented their petition on their demand for the recall of the senator. The commission had issued a notice to the petitioners and Melaye on July 3, on when it would begin the verification of the signatures of those who signed the notice.
